Ü Knitting Initiative artisans at work

Our manufacturing partners in Peru have collaborated with an inspiring philanthropic entrepreneur, Teresa, to create the Ü Knitting Initiative, which provides training and access to an international market for female artisans in the remote Puno region of Peru.  We're proud that "Parker the Paper Cape Bear" is made by these talented women.

Ü Knitting Initiative founder, Teresa, and her collaborators teaching a skills workshop
Ü Knitting Initiative founder, Teresa, studied sociology in school and loved artisanship.   She partnered with designers and textile engineers all over Peru before establishing the initiative in Puno.  Through her experience and contacts, Teresa has organized over 300 women specializing in artisan products.  At any given time, she works with an average of 30 to 50 women who were previously manual laborers to train them in both a technical and general business education.
